OUR STORY
SurviveHER™ is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the breast cancer journey for women of color and their families. Founded by award-winning journalist and stage 2B triple-negative breast cancer survivor Lyndsay Joy Levingston, SurviveHER was born from Joy’s personal mission to ensure that no woman navigates breast cancer alone or uninformed.
Since its founding on October 1, 2020, SurviveHER has provided education, resources, financial assistance, and community support to thousands of women nationwide. The organization’s mission is rooted in three guiding pillars:
SupportHER: Offering emotional, financial, and holistic support to survivors and their families, while building a powerful sisterhood of SurviveHERs who uplift one another through every phase of the journey.
ImpactHER: Spreading lifesaving awareness, education, and early detection resources to help women take control of their breast health.
Wellness4HER: Creating immersive, culturally resonant community events and initiatives that bring screening, wellness, and advocacy directly to the people who need it most.
OUR IMPACT
SurviveHER’s innovative programs have reached thousands of women across the United States, bridging gaps in access and information that disproportionately impact Black and Brown communities. Through mobile breast health activations, free Bexa™ breast exams, wellness workshops, support groups, and corporate partnerships, SurviveHER is helping women not only survive breast cancer, but thrive beyond it.
Signature initiatives include:
TreatHER Tour: A series of nationwide breast health events that combine education, screening, and celebration in culturally relevant spaces.
SurviveHER Soirée: An annual gala that raises funds to support survivors, increase access to early detection tools, and fuel community programming.
SurviveHER Santa & Financial Assistance Programs: Providing direct support to women and families in treatment and survivorship.
